Royal Boys Soccer began in the Spring of 1994, and despite many changes to the league over the years, the competition in the Central Washington area has always been known as some of the best in the state, regardless of classification.

The team was founded under the direction of John Gonzalez, who led the team for 4 years and advanced to the district playoffs for the first time in 1996.

Phil Sprague took over the program in 1998 and led the Knights for 4 years, advancing to districts twice in 2000, and 2001.

Mario Godoy took the reigns for one year before Daren Christensen stepped in as head coach from 2003-2005. Christensen led the Knights to within a game of state in 2003, and returned to the district tournament in 2005.

Jens Jensen is the current head coach. The Knights advanced to the district tournament in his first year (2006), but suffered and early loss to Connell that knocked them out after a 2-1 win over Bridgeport.

2007 brought a new SCAC league with many of the old teams from the CWAC, preserving the competition and high standard of play. In 2007 Royal made their first appearance at the State Tournament after defeating Connell 2-0 in Districts. Royal made an early exit due to a heartbreaking 2-2 loss on PK's to Leavenworth's Cascade High School.

Soccer is the beautiful game that we love.

Playing on this team is a privilege, and as a coaching staff we have only 2 requirements:

#1 - Work hard every day.

We work hard everyday so that when we step onto the field we are ready to represent our school, our community, our families, and ourselves. This work is not only on the pitch, but in the classroom, and in our community.

#2 - Take care of each other.

We are part of a team that is unified in its support and development of each player on the roster. We push each other, suffer and rejoice together, we defend each other, tutor each other, and watch out for one another. We are family.
